About Gil

I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia and have been playing trombone professionally for over 25 years in a wide range of ensembles. As a result, I am well versed in a variety of styles and ensembles. Some of my favorites are:

Jazz - A friend once said to me "Jazz...what else is there?". I have played in all types of jazz focused ensembles from the jazz combo working out of fake books up to full 20-piece big bands.

Chamber - My graduate work was focused on chamber music, with the brass quintet and trombone quartet being the center. Having played in the Metropolitan Brass Quintet in South Florida for 10+ years, I have covered a large range of quintet music.

Orchestral - I have played principal and 2nd trombone in a variety of orchestras over the years including the Florida Philharmonic, the Broward Symphony, Orchestra Atlanta and the Georgia Philharmonic.

Pop/Latin - The "5 horn" band is one of my favorites. Whether the style is hot latin or Earth, Wind and Fire, jammin horn parts with a killer rhythm section really get my juices flowin.

Pit Orchestra/Show Music - Some of my favorite "gigs" over the years have been while working in a pit on a long running show. From Oklahoma to West Side Story, it's all good!

Studio - While studio work in the Atlanta area is slim, I have done a fair amount of time working on various recording projects. While in the Miami area, I worked on several local radio spot ads as well as multiple private recording projects with various groups.
