In addition to being an active musician, I am also heavily involved in application software development, especially on the iPhone and iPod Touch platforms.
Tempo Master - The last metronome you will ever need for the iPhone. After researching many others, I found almost all to be either difficult to use, or worse, inaccurate across the spectrum of tempos. For this reason, I developed the Tempo Master metronome for the professional musician.

Tempo Tapper - Find Your Tempo! Tempo Tapper App
Tempo Tapper is intended to help professional musicians, teachers, adjudicators and students find the tempo of what they hear without having to scroll through a series of metronome settings. Think of it as a "reverse metronome".
For the adjudicator, when the performer begins to play, tap the screen 4 or more times matching the tempo of the music. Check the screen and see the actual tempo that you tapped in. Now you will know the actual tempo without having to work through the metronome, thus distracting you from the rest of the performance.
To use, simply start the application and begin tapping. After a minimum of four (4) taps, the screen will display the tempo with the tempo marking (Allegro, Presto, Largo, etc...) as listed on most standard metronomes.
